Lacy Presnell has extensive civil trial and appellate experience in a broad range of complex disputes. He has represented individuals and businesses in state and federal courts in North Carolina. He has been lead counsel in serious injury and death cases, business disputes, and contract and estate disputes and his trial experience includes more than 70 cases tried to a verdict.
He graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1973 and Wake Forest University School of Law in 1976. Before law school he worked with U.S. Senator Sam J. Ervin and served an assistant investigator for the U.S. Senate Select Committee on Presidential Campaign Activities (Senate Watergate Committee).

He also has experience with cases involving contracts and commercial transactions, fraud and fiduciary claims, professional malpractice, product liability, personal injury, wrongful death, and insurance claims.
Lacy has represented clients in cases involving numerous parties and complex issues. He was lead counsel for four victims injured when a pedestrian bridge collapsed at the Lowe’s Motor Speedway in Charlotte, NC and he served on the steering committee for that litigation. He also represented a family in wrongful death claims arising out of a NASCAR team airplane crash in Martinsville, Virginia.
He has served as a court-appointed mediator to assist others in settling cases for more than 15 years. He is often selected as an arbitrator in a variety of cases and claims including contract, insurance, personal injury and professional malpractice claims. He has represented parties in a variety of alternative dispute resolution proceedings including arbitrations, mediations, and mini-jury trials.
He has been very involved in professional and community activities. He has served as President of the Wake County Bar Association and the 10th Judicial District Bar, President of the YMCA of the Triangle Area, Inc., Clerk of Session of White Memorial Presbyterian Church, and Chair of Ravenscroft School Board of Trustees. He currently serves on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of the Triangle Community Foundation. The Triangle Business Journal named Lacy as one of area's 10 Super Volunteers in its January 1, 2010, edition for his work with the YMCA of the Triangle Area, Inc.
